Pierce School Musical • Crazy cool after school theatre
A perennial Disney favorite, The Beauty and the Beast tells the story of a smart village girl, Belle, and her father, Maurice, who are abducted by the mean monster of the dark castle. But not to worry, she encounters the most lively cast of bizarre and friendly creatures in the form of talking teacups, candelabras and dressing bureaus. It's a joyful and enlightening story of redemption and love set against difficult odds, a prevailing of the human spirit and a perfect story for our Pierce kids. Join us!
The Cast. Two casts are open to kids in grades 5 and 6, and we take 22 per cast. The Castle Cast meets Mondays and Wednesdays after school until 5:30, The Village Cast meets Tuesdays (until 5:30) and Fridays (until 4:30). Tuesday rehearsals are at the VFW facility at 386 Washington St, across from the town library.
We begin on Wednesday, January 3, with a mandatory audition prep session for everyone, after school until 4:30. Auditions follow on January 4 & 5, time slots to be determined by you. Rehearsals begin the week of January 8 and continue through our last dress rehearsal on April 5. Registration fee is $350. See below for show information.
The Chorus. Chorus is open to all 3rd and 4th graders and we take up to 50 children. The chorus sits alongside the cast and sings on many of the show's songs. It is also featured in the play with a special song and dance written just for the chorus. Chorus rehearsals are on Thursdays only, from February 8 through March 28, after school until 4:20pm. Each chorus will join its cast for a dress rehearsal on either April 1 or 2, then perform in two shows. Registration fee is $220. See below for show information.
Tech Crew. Tech Crew is responsible for setting staging pieces for each scene and a lot of other tasks. Open to anyone grade 5 – 8, it's a great way to make friends and be part of a team. The commitment is only about two weeks, as Tech Crew doesn't start until March 25. Tech Crew members set their own schedule and should be able to commit to 2-3 rehearsals per week between March 25 and April 4, as well as at least two shows. Registration fee is $150.
The Shows. Castle Cast's shows are Friday, April 5 at 6:30pm, and Saturday, April 6 at 1:30pm. Village Cast's shows are Saturday, April 6 at 6:30pm, and Sunday, April 7 at 1:30pm. Chorus members will be in one of two choruses that match those dates and times. We keep all cast and chorus siblings together!
